direct from Los Angeles, California a Wet Rocks interview by Myles Maher in real audio.
Looking for a good time and feeling a bit frisky, I wandered into Madame's Pleasure Palace located within the intimate recesses of the Fairfax district's Club Largo and was treated to an evening of memorable aural pleasure, compliments of Lust Pollution. However satisfying, the aural gratification derived from my Lust Pollution experience was only half the fun.
Lust Pollution is far more than a truly entertaining band with a unique style of performance. Lust Pollution is a group of creatively talented individuals with an impressive collective sense of humor. The show, which features Madame, their sultry vocalist, is classy risque a la Eartha Kit or Marlene Dietrich. Backing up Madame with a big-band, pre-WWII feel are Benny Blackstone-guitar, Bootsy Vinto-bass, Dizzy Dominguez-sax and clarinet, Skins Rousseau-drums, The Professor-percussion and Sacred Tex-keyboards.
Originally conceived as a homage to the bands of the 30s and 40s, Lust Pollution has taken on a more postmodern and eclectic approach to their live performance in an effort to express the distortion, beauty and temptation involved in Desire, the theme of many of the band's songs. Madame, the female Hugh Hefner and her playmates, 'The Boys' have titillated audiences for over three years, including performances at HBO's Comedy Festival in Aspen, Colorado and on Comedy Central, with meditations on Break-Up Sex, Madame's Cherry Pie and What Is An Orgasm?

With a diversity of influences including Django Rhinehart, Cab Calloway, Abba, Mae West, Monty Python, Kitty Carlisle, Sid Barrett, Joan Crawford, Bootsy Collins, Blondie and Zsa Zsa Gabor. Lust Pollution was born out of a bottle of scotch and a commitment to the audience having a f- cking great time, letting go and discovering something about themselves, professes Madame. Sacred Tex is quick to add, I feel that if we can touch people in some way and then they can maybe take that away and touch themselves in a new way, I think that's a wonderful thing to give. There's a lot of love in that.
Call it love, call it lust, call it aural pleasure and a lot more. Lust Pollution was a great time. Thanks to the band for the enjoyable interview which can be heard, basically unedited, on real audio.
Stay tuned Myles will find out about Lust Pollution's new CD.
