Richard : I understand you just finished touring in
Europe with
Warped Tour.
Any interesting/funny stories from the trip?
Scott Raynor:
Mark
got naked on stage in front of probably like 3,000 Spaniards.
Mark gets naked a lot,
but this was the first time he got naked on stage. I don't know, it was a fun tour with great guys and
great bands.
buckcherry gets lit up--keith nelson interviewed by aimee kristi
Photos by Sondra Faye-- now an excerpt from the interview--
Aimee Kristi:
I DON'T KNOW IF YOU'LL AGREE WITH ME BUT MOST OF THE BANDS IN THE LAST DECADE
HAVE RELEASED MUSIC THAT'S LACKING THE BASIC SEX, DRUGS, R-N-R ...YOU KNOW,
THE FUN STUFF HAS SORT OF BEEN OBSOLETE REPLACED WITH MORE SERIOUS, GLOOMY OR INAPT MESSAGES.
MAYBE IT'S THAT PEOPLE ARE MORE UPTIGHT ABOUT CERTAIN THINGS...WHY DID YOU, AND YOUR
LABEL CHOOSE "LIT UP" AS THE FIRST SINGLE TO RELEASE? DIDN'T IT SEEM LIKE A CONTROVERSIAL TOPIC?
Keith Nelson:
I think that the 80's brought such fears about sex and aids and the same with drug use.
I'm not a philosopher by any stretch but I think that now people realize if you practice safe
sex it's okay to be comfortable with sex again. I think however that the whole concepts of sex in
music has been put in the background and with us, we're not afraid to embrace or express those ideals.
buttersprites guitarist Elizabeth Jameson interviewed by Sondra Faye click here
Sondra: How did the Buttersprites actually get together since everybody is from different islands, different cultures?
Elizabeth:
Yeh. It's kind of a funny story. Because, The story goes I was going to a cabaret style party. Because a lot of our friends are in dance or artists and performers. I asked everyone to come up with some kind of an act to perform at a cabaret party. There was performance artists and a dancing girl troupe called the hot toddy's. there was a dancing girl group called "Hot Toddy's" I had always wanted to start a Japanese Girl Band. So I thought well this was a perfect thing. Let's just get together play for one show and that ll be that. I just got together with my Japanese girlfriends. We either bought our instruments or borrowed. So, I decided I wanted to play guitar, went and got a cheap guitar. We just started having a rehearsal. None of us were musicians. We just started jamming all together. We were jamming all the time. Started practicing by ourselves. And said Oh my God, that sounded like a song.
