The Step In Sh*t Interview ![]() by Sondra Faye- oh yeh, and the photos too Yes, it is a true story. Just 5 minutes before I knocked on Joe Whyte's door. And yes, I am equally as superstitious as any professional baseball player. It's just that I choose to believe in only the good omens- such as it is incredibly lucky to accidentally step in sh*t & it is incredibly lucky that it was not the first time I met the oh so adorable and see through you blue eyed Joe Whyte... Here's some blips & pieces of our exclusive rockazine.com real audio interview About Lo Fi Romance from his freshman release CD Joe Whyte: : That seems to be the one; which is kind of surprising. Cause it's actually the most low key of all the songs and probably the most mellow. I don't know maybe that's why people are tired of hearing the same old- Sondra: In Your Face? Joe Whyte: : in your face Sondra: In Your Face. Like Save Me, In Your Face (from the CD) Joe Whyte: : An R & B kind of way, I guess, I don't know instead of the whole grunge kind of thing. Grunge is Dead. You can still have Rock with Balls but you don't have to be rude about it. I guess I'm tired of hearing that locked in a cage, blah, blah, blah melancholy. Going all black- life sucks kind of thing. You can do more than that Sondra: Do you think life sucks? Joe Whyte: : No. I think- happy as a clam. Sondra: Well you didn't step in sh*t today, I did. I'm actually doing this interview without any- shoes on. Joe Whyte: : As am I... The Factory- Dublin, Ireland's legendary recording studio. Joe Whyte: : I worked in a studio in Ireland. Sondra: Not in Scranton, Pennsylvania. We are out of America rockaziners, and now in Ireland. Joe Whyte: : Not in Dublin, Ohio- Dublin, Ireland. I wasn't really studying I was over there for college for a year and I went and I said I wanted to work in a studio. So I just knocked on the door and said mind if I work here? and they said yeah okay, we can't give you any money. So that's why for a year I kind of came and went as I pleased...It's pretty popular it's more for rehearsal than it is for recording. But they do recording there as well. I met Sinead O'Conner one day. She was having her lunch while she was rehearsing for her album. Sondra: The recent one? Joe Whyte: : Her, Uh, Universal Mother I guess it was. The one before the last one. Like U-2 kept all their gear there. So if we had to clean out the room, we had to push all their (U-2's) stuff into the corner... Ireland- a beautiful politically ripped apart country Sondra: With living in Dublin, Ireland, were you affected by the politics? Or were you an apathetic American? Joe: No, I think that if you lived there- there are some people that concern themselves and then there are some people that concern themselves too much. My main beef is the Irish Americans here- Sondra Faye: This is my water? Joe Whyte: Those are yours, drinking all my water- so my main beef is Irish Americans that live here that don't know jack about what's going on over there. and yet they're willing to send money ,scream for free Ireland or blah, blah, blah they really have no idea. I'm not saying that I know too much either. I mean I only lived there for 2 years but you kind of see more than that you see what's going on. Sondra: Do you think that Ireland is free? Joe Whyte: It's tough. the Republic is great, the North is different I went up to the North & drove up in a car and I basically had a 19 year old kid with a machine gun sticking in the window. It kind of puts things in perspective a little bit. A lot of it is senseless and a lot of it isn't political anymore. It's just kinda you killed my dad so now I'm gonna go after you... Peace in Ireland Joe Whyte: I'm really optimistic about the new Peace Plan that's been drawn up. Whether it goes through or not, I don't know if it will ever happen. I think there is too much at stake on both sides. People think they aren't going to give in. I hope they do. And I hope something comes of it, but I'm not sure. Sondra: I think that Shin Fein obviously has- become, I don't know, more accepted in the Western World- Joe Whyte: Yeah, and I think the reason is- is because people don't know enough. I mean Shin Fein their relationship with the IRA on paper they say we're the political ...you can see through that, and I think a lot of people aren't realizing that whether or not you want to free Ireland or not the fact of the matter it is terrorist activityI'm torn on the situation. I'd love to see a free IrelandAt the same time it could ruin everything. If your English- you've been a British subject all your life in Northern Ireland you don't want to become Irish. I don't know if the Irish Government can take along 6 counties financially. It would be a big burden I really don't know what the solution is. I don't really know what to say. Sondra: Well, I don't know if anybody has a solution as long as they're are looking for it and hopefully in a peaceful manner. Wouldn't it be nice. Joe Whyte: That's the best we can hope for right now. Sondra: Wouldn't it be nice if there were peace in the entire world. Joe Whyte: I guess without confilict there would be no creativity either. Sondra: We would definately get a lot more done. Imagine that if there was peace in the world..Imagine what we'd be doing. Probably taking trips to the moon. Joe Whyte: Conflict is good.Probably some sort of confilict between people. some sort of conflit sparks creativity. The violence we could do without.
