Number One ROCKAZINE.COM real audio E4E interview with Leah Quinn ![]() Evelyn Forever consisting of four great guys who met in college have created a slick smooth sound full of energy and good vibes. These men do not have an ounce of bad will in their bones, but a mean way of playing their instruments with finesse. This team is oh so tight-knit in their playing style it would make you think that they all came from the same womb - but alas that is not the case. It is refreshing to see a group of people getting along and you see why they haven't any troubles just by listening to their high-energy packed melodious music. Evelyn Forever - I had the fine pleasure of meeting the gang at the Mercury Lounge where they have played before. Though there is a lot more on the real audio, here is a little excerpt of that great interview:
Quinn: What happened the last time you played here? Evelyn Forever: Oh, the last time I played here, I was just really sick, on the way back from Boston. We played here on Friday and Boston on Saturday or we played Boston on a Friday and here on a Saturday... Quinn: What the best thing you like about going out and gigging? Evelyn Forever: Um...I don't know. New people. Yeah, yeah. And I just love playing music. And getting an honest reaction from people that don't know you.. Yeah, they don't care about you one way or another. You can gage your success that way or by the way how good you play Quinn: Well its been six months now since your CD release, so are you working on your second one or what are you doing? Evelyn Forever: Summary ELP. Yeah we are really excited too. Yeah, we got so many new songs. Quinn: You are working on the material now, as we speak? Evelyn Forever: Well, not now as we speak, well its already written but umm, our Pete of Airplane in working out a deal with Shelly Accus. We want him to produce it. (Excellent, excellent) I think it will work out though. Quinn: Good, Whose one of your favorite musicians, do you know? Evelyn Forever: Oh, that's easy. The Replacements, all the Beatles, Elvis Costello, Elvis Presley, the Kinks, the Who, Buddy Holly, all the great classics. Quinn: Did you guys watch the Grammys at all? Did you catch any of that? Evelyn Forever: No, we were playing that night I think. ![]() Quinn: Oh, you were playing at the Grammys. Evelyn Forever: Yeah, we wish! - Yeah, we got nominated. Yeah - best of multi-culteral band in New Jersey. Quinn: Now, how long have you guys been playing together now? Evelyn Forever: A year and half - a couple of years now. Seriously now since the last record came out. dear Quinn & Evelyn Forever- pardon the hell out of us- but a word from our sponsor ![]() and now back to the Mighty Quinn & Evelyn 4ever- Quinn: I was really impressed with your website, you know?!? Evelyn Forever: Really? Quinn: Yeah, the response you gave me, yes, that's pretty good. Its important (to have a website) Yeah, its really professional. I can be turned off (by unprofessionalism) I used to book bands, so some bands yeah have a good sound though their act was not together. So its good when you (Evelyn Forever) have all that. Quinn: So did you grow up together? Evelyn Forever: No, we met up in College. Rutgers - yeah we all went to Rutgers. Quinn: I hear that the girls are wild over there. Evelyn Forever: Not that I have met, we would have known. Quinn: Did you start playing (together) as a band up in College? Evelyn Forever: Yeah. Quinn: But how was the response? - Did they like you? Were you a house band? Evelyn Forever: Well, at first we were pretty terrible, so. Well we were really bad at first and then we got good and started to get a following and then we moved away.(Laughter from all) No, its cool though, we still go back there and play once a month so and its really good. Quinn: Are you guys living in the one house or something? Evelyn Forever: Yes. Quinn: Smart way to do it. Evelyn Forever: You get a lot of writing done. Yeah. Indeed. We are always writing new stuff. Quinn: Practicing and hearing other people's riffs. Quinn: Who writes to most here or it is a nice team effort? Evelyn Forever: Its cooperative. Yeah, yeah. Like a lot of us come up with the majority of an idea for a song. Its about a third, a third and a third of a basic idea. And someone will take the ball and run with it. And that they do - run with the ball and the beat of the music. Their energy is contagious and it only makes you want to jump up and down to the infectious rhythms created only by Evelyn Forever. Please check them out!!! You will not be disappointed. ![]() |
